Hyundai Stargazer X launched in PH, SUV-fied MPV for Php 1.348M

A few months after unveiling it at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is expanding its Stargazer line with the local introduction of the Stargazer X.

The Hyundai Stargazer X is designed to compete directly with the Honda BR-V, Suzuki XL7, and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, as an SUV-like version of the Stargazer compact MPV, and is also part of the Korean automaker’s growing MPV lineup, launched alongside the new Stargazer 6-seater variant, Staria 9-seater variant, and the all-new Custin.

Available in one variant, the GLS, the Stargazer X is set apart from the regular Stargazer by the heavy use of plastic body cladding around the vehicle. The front and rear bumpers also get a bulkier shape for a more rugged appearance and it also gets its own unique front grille and hood. Finally, it gets a rear tailgate spoiler and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Ground clearance has also been increased to 205 mm, an additional 20 mm over the standard Stargazer’s 185 mm.

As for its interior, it remains identical to the regular Stargazer but gets red stitching on the synthetic leather seats. It also gets the updated dashboard design with a gloss black finish and smaller bezels for the infotainment screen and instrument cluster housing, that we first saw in the Thai-spec Hyundai Stargazer during the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show last March. Finally, the manual parking brake has been replaced with an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function.

Among its standard equipment are LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, H-shaped LED combination taillights, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote engine start, wireless phone charger, and a seatback tray table.

Powering the Hyundai Stargazer X is the same 1.5-liter Smartstream-G Inline 4-cylinder MPI gasoline engine from the regular Stargazer. It produces the same output at 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, paired to an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), Hyundai’s version of a CVT.

Like the Stargazer, the Stargazer X also gets a suite of Hyundai Smartsense advanced driver-assistance tech, which includes autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping assist.

Again, the Hyundai Stargazer X comes in one variant, the GLS, and this is priced at Php 1,348,000 which is very competitive with its rivals. Customers will be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 200,000 kilometer vehicle warranty, whichever comes first.
