Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is expanding its reach in the family MPV segment with the launch of the all-new Custin. Revealed in 2020 as the Custo in China, the Custin completes the Korean automaker’s MPV lineup, designed to go head-to-head with the likes of the Kia Carnival and perhaps even the Toyota Alphard.

Coming in two variants for the Philippines—the 1.5 GLS and 1.5 Premium, the Custin’s launch also coincides with the introduction of the Stargazer X, and new variants of the Stargazer and Staria.

In terms of looks, it wears similar styling as the Tucson and Creta crossovers, making use of Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language with its upswept headlights which are integrated into the parametric design front grille. It also features a rear light bar with the Hyundai name spelled-out. Ground clearance is set at 170mm for easy ingress and egress of passengers.

Inside, the Custo gets a 7-passenger seating configuration in a 2-2-3 layout, with captain’s seats on the second row. Its interior leans on the upmarket side with its trendy floating center console and large portrait-oriented infotainment system.

Among its standard equipment are full LED exterior lighting, 18-inch dynamic blade alloy wheels, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, button type electronic gear selector, wireless phone charger, and dual power sliding doors.

Powering the 2024 Hyundai Custin is a 1.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder Smartstream-G engine with Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) and Integrated Thermal Management System (ITMS), both of which provide better efficiency and more optimal engine performance. It produces 170 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

As for safety, the Custin features Hyundai SmartSense giving it Forward-Collision Avoidance (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA), Blind-spot Collision Avoidance (BCA), Safe Exit Assist, High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and Rear Occupant Alert.

The 2024 Hyundai Custin is now available at all Hyundai dealerships nationwide. Pricing starts at a very competitive Php 1,770,000 for the GLS variant, while the Premium is priced at Pho 2,080,000. Buyers will also be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 200,000 kilometer vehicle warranty, whichever comes first.
