PEVS 2023: Ora 03 makes first public local appearance, launching in PH next year

2 min read

The Ora 03 has officially made its first public appearance in the Philippines, previewed at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit which is currently being held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

The Ora 03, also known as the Good Cat and Haomao in other markets, will be GWM’s entry into the small EV hatchback segment. It will also be the first fully-electric vehicle to join their local lineup which is currently composed of ICE and hybrid crossovers, and a diesel pickup truck.

In terms of design, the Ora 03 features retro styling, reminiscent of vehicles like the original Volkswagen Beetle and other classic Porsche models. That’s no surprise though as it is designed by former Porsche designer Emanuel Derta. Anyway the front features round headlights and soft clean lines, while the rear is very futuristic and sleek with an LED taillight bar integrated into the rear windshield.

GWM Philippines did not provide any specifics as to what features and specifications we can expect from the Ora 03 once it’s launched as the displays are not yet in their final form for the local market. Looking at what’s available in other markets and the previewed units themselves, equipment could include leather seats, power front seats, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and full LED lighting, among others.

Powering the Ora 03 in other markets are options of an electric motor paired to either a 47.8 kWh battery or a 63.1 kWh battery. Both options produce 141 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque but have different driving ranges. The former can drive up to 374 kilometers on a single charge while the latter can drive up to 500 kilometers

Pricing is not yet available for the Ora 03 but we can assume that it would be in the mid-Php 1-million range.
