Did Toyota Motor PH quietly introduce the updated Fortuner Q variant?

2 min read

A few months after quietly introducing the updated version of the Toyota Hilux pickup truck’s mid-grade G variant, it seems like Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is not done playing sneaky yet, this time with its hot-selling Fortuner.

It looks like the Japanese automaker has also introduced the updated version of the mid-grade 2.8 Q 4×2 variant of its popular SUV. This we saw as posted on Facebook Marketplace by different sales executives from local Toyota dealerships.

The Toyota Fortuner lineup received a refresh for the Thai-market in 2022 where all Fortuner variants now have a single identity, unlike what we currently have here in the Philippines where the LTD and GR Sport variants get a different front fascia and bumpers from the rest of the lineup. Checking the TMP website, the Q variant is shown as a blank silhouette however some information is available, albeit limited.

At least for the 2.8 Q 4×2 variant locally, we know that it now wears similar exterior styling as the LTD variant with a larger and sportier front grille, and a more angular front bumper. It also gets the LTD’s 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Setting it apart from the higher variant are the bi-beam LED headlights as well as the body-colored roof, which are both carried-over from the pre-facelift version.

Its interior is largely unchanged except for what looks like a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is similar to what we can find in the updated Hilux line as well. It still gets black leather seats, and black faux wood trim.

Powering the Fortuner Q is still the familiar 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbodiesel engine. This one isn’t the upgraded version released in Thailand and recently here on the Hilux GR Sport as that will be reserved for the Fortuner GR-S. That means output is still the same at 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Just like the higher-end variants, the Q gets Toyota Safety Sense as standard as before, giving it a pre-collision system, lane departure alert with yaw assist, blindspot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.

Now you’re probably curious how much the changes have added to the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 Q 4×2’s price. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like a single peso was added with TMP’s website and the marketplace listings specifying the same suggested retail price of Php 2,189,000 with a Php 15,000 premium for a Platinum White Pearl Mica or Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine exterior paint job.

What do you think of the changes done to the Toyota Fortuner Q for 2024?
