Omoda and Jaecoo finally have a confirmed launch date in PH

After more than a year of teasing and various announcements of its entry into the Philippine market, the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, both subsidiaries of Chery, finally have launch dates.

The two brands, both under the management of O&J Philippines, a direct subsidiary from China, are set to participate at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) this coming April 4 to April 7, 2024

As already announced, the 5 crossover will be Omoda’s initial offering for our market. One of our writers was even able to take it out on an exclusive test drive on local roads. We’ll reserve impressions for when the model is officially launched but it should be exciting.

The Omoda 5 wears a futuristic and aggressive exterior, and tech-filled cabin filled with the latest comfort and convenience features. Powering it is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a full EV version also on its way.

Meanwhile for Jaecoo, the brand will be showcasing two models—the J7 compact crossover and J8 midsize crossover, which were both revealed last year.

The former is based on the Chery TJ-1 C-DM prototype and wears a soft but boxy rugged look with rectangular headlight and DRL pieces, a large front grille, and other rectangular elements all around the vehicle. Inside, it mixes premium and rugged with its boxy elements as well, and premium looking color schemes. We can expect it to have a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine under the hood.

The latter on the other hand is based on the Chery Tiggo 9, the brand’s flagship crossover. This one takes on a more luxurious approach with a strong exterior presence and premium interior appointments. It’s powered by a 2.0-liter Inline 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine.
