The Nissan Armada Pro-4X is the Patrol’s more rugged twin
For a couple of years now, the Nissan Patrol has been marketed and sold as the Armada in the US-market. With the global unveiling of the all-new seventh generation Y63 Patrol, Nissan USA has also unveiled the new generation of the full-size SUV’s American twin, and it gets a more rugged Pro-4X version.

Available for the first time, the Nissan Armada Pro-4X is designed for customers who want a more capable and more rugged full-size SUV, and aims to capture a part of the growing demand for off-road SUVs.
Looking at its design, the Armada is basically a rebadged Patrol with the same overall design inside and out with its large front grille, C-shaped lighting signatures, and elevated premium interior
Setting apart the Pro-4X apart is its black and red Nissan emblem matched with various Lava Red accents on the exterior such us on its front tow hooks, and black finishes for the fender flares, side mirrors, roof rails, and front grille. Its interior also gets Pro-4x themed accents.
Nissan also says that the Armada Pro-4X provides impressive off-road metrics such as 244mm of ground clearance, a 33° approach angle, 25.5° breakover angle, and 24.5° departure angle.
Those are in addition to an electronic locking rear differential, Adaptive Electronic Air Suspension (that can raise by up to 54mm), 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 275/60R20 all-terrain tires, and a metal underbody skid plate. It also gets an Off-road Information Display that shows an inclinometer, slip indicator and a steering angle indicator.
Just like the Patrol, the Armada Pro-4X is powered by a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine which is also shared with the more luxurious Infiniti QX80. Also like its twin, the new powertrain produces 425 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Unique to the Armada Pro-4X are eight selectable drive modes—Standard, Eco, Sport, Tow, Snow, Sand, Rock, and Mud/Rut. These alter vehicle systems to optimize performance for any driving condition.
For those who’d like to tow (which is a huge thing in North America), the Armada Pro-4X is capable of towing up to around 3,855kg.
The Nissan Armada Pro-4X is set to go on sale in the United States later this year. We’re not sure if Nissan Philippines plans to offer a Pro-4X version of the Patrol in the future, but given that we saw a handful of previous generation Armadas brought-in by gray market importers, we won’t be surprised to see some examples of the Armada Pro-4X on our streets as well.
