Lynk & Co Philippines now official, launching at MIAS 2024 with 01 and 06 crossovers
It’s no longer a secret that Geely and Volvo’s premium collaboration brand, Lynk & Co, is coming to the Philippines under United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI).
Set to launch to the public at this year’s edition of the Manila International Auto Show, the Lynk & Co Philippines has made official today its local presence with an exclusive preview of its initial lineup for the Philippine market, the 01 and 06 crossovers.
The Philippines will become the brand’s second market in Southeast Asia, after Vietnam. Details for their lineup are not yet complete but the folks at Lynk & Co Philippines gave us a glimpse of what to expect from the two models.
Lynk & Co 01
The first model in the brand’s local lineup will be the 01 compact crossover, built on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) Platform which it shares with the Volvo XC40 and C40 Recharge, Polestar 2, as well as the Geely Monjaro, among others.
In terms of styling, the 01 comes with what Lynk & Co calls Aurora Borealis LED daytime running lights and Energy Cube LED taillights, some signature design cues of their current models. There’s also a Z-shaped beltline for a sportier appearance, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels.
Features we can expect from the 01 are a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and 12.7-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In terms of performance, the 01 is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Under its hood is the combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. It produces a combined output of 262 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed (wet) dual-clutch transmission (DCT). It has a full-electric driving range of 69 kilometers and can be charged using a Type 2 charger, making it compatible with most charging stations in the country.
Lynk & Co 06
The second model for Lynk & Co’s local lineup is the 06 subcompact crossover. Built on the same platform as the very popular Geely Coolray, this will compete in the local B-segment crossover segment which continues to grow in popularity among new car buyers.
As for what we can expect, the 06 wears a similar aesthetic as the 01 on the outside. It will also have a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, and dual chrome exhaust pipes.
Engine details were not revealed but according to a source from within the company, the 06 will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces around 180 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, also mated to a 7-speed (wet) dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
For safety, it will come equipped with a full suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), comprising of Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Assistance, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist.
Official Launch Soon
Pricing for the Lynk & Co 01 and 06 are not yet available but the brand did announce indicative prices to give us an idea of what we can expect. The Lynk & Co 01 will be priced around Php 2.4-million, while the Lynk & Co 06 will be priced around Php 1.5-million.
