2 min read

When it comes to fully-electric vehicles, there is no doubt that Hyundai has been successful with their Ioniq 5 crossover. In fact, it has even won several accolades, including the 2022 World Car of the Year.

With such high expectations and new rivals popping-up left and right, it’s important that it remains with the times and with that, the Korean automaker has given the model a little update, as well as a sporty new N Line variant.

Exterior-wise, the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets new front and rear bumpers which give it a lower and wider stance. There’s a new set of alloy wheels with a more simple design, and the rear spoiler has been extended by 50 mm. All these contribute to better aerodynamics. In addition, a rear windshield wiper has been added.

Inside, the most obvious change is the new steering wheel which now gets a three-spoke design as opposed to the outgoing version’s two-spokes. Hyundai has gotten ride of the drawer-style glove compartment, going back to a traditional style, while the movable center console, dubbed as the Universal Island has also been updated with a new layout, as well as physical buttons for frequently-used functions such as for the heated and ventilated seats, enhancing usability.

For its powertrain, Hyundai has given the Ioniq 5 a larger 84.0 kWh battery replacing the previous 77.4 kWh battery which in turn increases its driving range from 458 kilometers to 485 kilometers, making longer journeys possible. In case you’re wondering, charging times remain the same.

Changes have also been made underneath the vehicle such as a new shock absorber design, more rigid cowl crossbar, reinforcements for the rear wheels and lower part of the vehicle, as well as additional noise insulation. All these will provide a more comfortable experience for the vehicle’s users.

We’re not done yet. As mentioned, added to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 lineup is a new N Line variant for those looking for something a little sportier than the standard model, but not as sport as the Ioniq 5 N.

The Ioniq 5 N Line gets a more aggressive and sporty front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and unique 20-inch alloy wheels. It also gets exclusive N Line designs on the inside including an N Line steering wheel, black headliner, and sport seats.

The updated Hyundai Ioniq 5, including the Ioniq 5 N Line, will initially be made available for customers in South Korea starting this month, with other markets, hopefully including ours, following suit in the coming months.
