BAIC re-enters PH market under UAAGI with five models launching at MIAS 2024
BAIC, a Chinese state-owned automaker, is set to return to the Philippine market, launching at this year’s edition of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI).
BAIC, standing for Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation, was founded in 1958 and is present in over 50 countries around the world. It’s also the parent brand of other Chinese automakers such as Foton Motor which is also under the UAAGI umbrella, Arcfox, Beijing, Changhe, and Ruili.
In addition, the Chinese automaker also has joint ventures for vehicle manufacturing with other large foreign automakers such as Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and even formerly Jeep.
Meanwhile, UAAGI is currently the same company behind the local operations of various Chinese automotive brands, initially with BAIC subsidiary Foton in 2007, Chery in 2019, and most recently Lynk & Co which is also set to make its public debut at the MIAS. This makes BAIC the fourth brand under the UAAGI umbrella.
The Chinese automaker’s entry will be marked by the introduction of five new models—the B40, B60, and B80 body-on-frame SUVs, and the X55 and X7 crossovers. You can read about each one of these vehicles here.
BAIC Philippines is surely excited to get the attention of new car buyers as they’ve already announced the warranties for these new models. All customers will be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 150,000 kilometer general vehicle warranty, whichever comes first.
“The time is ripe for us to bring in what would be our fourth automotive brand and we are convinced that BAIC vehicles offer the right mix of design, features, technology, and pricing in its product line to make a strong impact on the Philippine market,” said UAAGI Chairman Rommel Sytin.
“We are very excited to offer BAIC’s state-of-the-art portfolio of world-class SUVs and crossovers. We can’t wait for Filipinos to experience the traits, characteristics, and capabilities of these exceptional SUVs firsthand,” said UAAGI Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin.
Again, the public debut of BAIC Philippines and its initial lineup will be held at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show. The four-day auto show will happen this coming April 4 to 7, 2024, at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
