The Nissan Kicks apparently has an aircon issue, Nissan PH responds quickly
The Nissan Kicks was launched in the Philippines in the middle of last year and has quickly become one of the Japanese automaker’s most popular vehicles thanks to its e-POWER technology which offers an electric vehicle like drive, without the need to recharge the vehicle at home or charging stations.
It’s a great car thanks to its great performance and comfort, and of course, fuel economy. It even easily became our top 1 favorite among all the cars we reviewed last year, and still remains that way. However, there seems to be an issue hounding existing owners and that is an alleged issue with the vehicle’s airconditioning system.
According to several Nissan Kicks owners on the Nissan Kicks e-Power Club of the Philippines Facebook group, their unit’s airconditioning system simply stops blowing cold air. Upon checking with authorized Nissan service centers, they have discovered that the vehicle’s airconditioning compressors may fail. According to a letter written by the club and sent to Nissan Philippines, there are about 14 confirmed cases among units owned by club owners.
Now if you’re planning to purchase or currently own a Kicks, you would probably be frustrated, but there’s no need to be as Nissan Philippines has already responded to the club’s letter with an explanation on what actions they are taking.
According to the letter dated January 11, 2023, the brand’s local counterpart is fully-aware of the issue surrounding the Kicks’ airconditioning compressors and are staying on top of the matter. Also according to them, they have already reached out to affected owners which could also mean that the issue is only affecting a specific batch of units.
Existing owners who have experienced the issue said that their vehicle’s A/C compressors are being replaced under warranty with an average wait time of 2 to 3 months. Unfortunately that has to be the case when it comes to waiting times as there are still issues surrounding supply of spare parts, common to most car brands today, caused by the effects of the pandemic.
Anyway, it’s at least great to know that Nissan Philippines is already working on the issue and hopefully we will no longer see any new units added to those with the issue, especially considering the popularity of this crossover.
