Suzuki PH gives all Ertiga variants a mild-hybrid powertrain, starts at Php 954K

Suzuki Philippines has done the first move in electrifying its segment and its local lineup with the introduction of the 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid.

This comes a couple of months after the model made its first appearance in the country, during the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) last year. The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid receives a new powertrain and some aesthetic updates as part of its refresh.

First things first, let’s talk about the powertrain as that is the main difference here. Don’t let its “Hybrid” moniker fool you as the Ertiga does not get a full hybrid system under the hood and instead gets a mild-hybrid system. It still gets a 1.5-liter K15B Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine but is now paired with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Technology, composed of a 12-volt lithium-ion battery and Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). Power and torque figures are slightly improved at 103 horsepower and 138 Nm. Transmission choices remain as a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. By the way, this new powertrain is standard across the new Ertiga lineup.

This new powertrain is also equipped with Suzuki’s Engine Auto Stop Start (EASS) feature that stops the engine from running when the vehicle is not moving, saving fuel. Suzuki also claims an average fuel economy of 12.54 km/l or a 7.6% better than the regular Ertiga.

In terms of looks, the Ertiga Hybrid receives a handful of aesthetic updates to set it apart from the pre-refresh model. While everything looks pretty similar to the pre-refresh model, it gets a new and more modern-looking front grille and a chrome strip on the tailgate, as well as “Hybrid” badging. It also rides on a new set of two-tone 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it remains the same.  Like before, equipment on the Ertiga Hybrid are halogen headlights, LED taillights, a D-shaped steering wheel, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Smartlink connectivity.

In terms of safety, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is equipped with the usual Dual Front Airbags, and Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. In addition, it now gets Hill-Hold Control and Electronic Stability Program.

The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is now officially available at all 71 Suzuki Auto dealerships nationwide and can be had for the following suggested retail prices:

  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GA M/T – Php 954,000
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GL M/T – Php 1,068,000
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GL A/T – Php 1,103,000
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GLX A/T – Php 1,153,000
