PIMS 2022: Honda Cars PH previews 2nd gen BR-V

It may have taken a bit longer than expected, but the all-new second generation of Honda’s popular SUV slash MPV is finally in the Philippines, at least on display. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) took the opportunity to preview the upcoming model at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Coming soon to the Philippines is the all-new Honda BR-V which was first revealed almost exactly a year ago for the Indonesian market. Since 2016, the BR-V nameplate has always been one of HCPI’s most popular models.

Looking at the exterior, the second generation Honda BR-V receives more of an evolutionary redesign rather than a revolutionary one. It still looks visually similar to the outgoing first generation model but at the same time looks more modern and is larger. The interior on the other hand, is a large departure from the outgoing version with a sleeker and more upright design.

While HCPI has not confirmed any features yet, we can expect the all-new Honda BR-V to have stuff like LED headlights and taillights, options of 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, fabric or leather seating, push button start, and some of Honda’s Sensing driver-assist safety technologies such as a LaneWatch camera, and autonomous emergency braking, once it’s launched here.

We can also expect it to be powered by the Honda City’s 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated i-VTEC engine that produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, paired to a continuously variable transmission, as with Honda BR-Vs from other markets.

Obviously, Honda Cars Philippines has not announced pricing for the all-new BR-V. Given that it is already previewed, it should be launched locally within the next few months.
