Suzuki PH to showcase “special” model at PIMS 2022

2 min read

All attention in the automotive industry right now is aimed at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), and Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) is teasing what we can expect from them during the 4-day event.

Suzuki’s theme for this year’s event: The Next Generation of Mobility, is a way for the brand to showcase their latest innovations and initiatives through the design, activities and well-loved products all set to take the center stage.

Suzuki is happy with the recovery of the automobile industry despite the numerous challenges posed by the pandemic,” shared Mr. Norihide Takei, General Manager for Suzuki Automobile. “We look forward to partaking in this initiative by CAMPI that will be beneficial for the automotive industry, and continue to contribute to the next generation of mobility, where mobility meets humanity.”

Suzuki Philippines is set to display its lineup of models composed of the Celerio, Dzire, XL7, S-Presso SE and Jimny, which are also all available for test drive. Also to be showcased is a “special model” that will show the public the brand’s latest technology.

Based on the teaser image provided by the brand, it looks like the aforementioned model is the new Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid. This version of Suzuki’s entry into the 7-seater compact MPV segment was first revealed in June.

The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid, other than having a refreshed exterior and more standard equipment versus the standard Ertiga, is powered by the Japanese automaker’s Smart Hybrid Technology. This is a mild-hybrid system composed of a 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine paired with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a lithium ion battery. In total, this produces 105 hp and 137 Nm of torque.

We are not exactly sure of what specifications the model to be revealed at the PIMS will be but we definitely won’t have to wait too long as the 8th Philippine International Motor Show starts tomorrow, September 15 up to September 18 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Doors will be open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
