Recalls Are Actually A Good Thing

2 min read

Aftersales service is one of the biggest deciding factors one person makes when purchasing a car, much more if it’s his or her first time to do so. Some people will go on and on about how good or bad a certain brand and why you should and should not invest your hard-earned money on it.

Vehicle recalls are dreaded by most car buyers and a brand making recalls can easily be put off the shopping list by someone who fears these. The thing is, recalls are actually a good thing.

We’ve seen several recalls in recent years and some of the most prominent are from faulty Takata-related airbags recalls which affected a lot of Hondas and other brands. Another is a faulty fuel pump related recall which affected models like the Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Rush, Honda BR-V, and even the Toyota Innova and Fortuner. Many of these vehicles are extremely popular in our market.

Just recently, Ford Philippines is recalling their popular Territory due to a faulty Electronic Battery Sensor Bracket which may cause the vehicle to not start once it breaks. This has now caused the blue oval brand to get criticism from owners of other models and other people as well no thanks to their infamous problems with their dual-clutch transmissions from previous Ford EcoSport and Fiesta models, and even on their 10-speed automatics from the Ranger Raptor.

So why are people so mad about recalls? Most people think that these recalls make their cars unreliable and will make them a headache. Again, some people purchase certain models due to their well-known reliability just like Toyota vehicles but not too long ago the Japanese brand made recalls for some of their most popular models. This makes other persons’ arguments invalid that reliable brands don’t have issues at all.

Again, recalls are actually a good thing. For starters, this is what is called accountability on the vehicle brand’s part. This means the company is not leaving its prized buyers behind and is actually helping you reduce costs with ownership of the vehicle as a repair is done for free. Next is that recalls make vehicles safer. Having a recall is better than driving your car then meeting an accident because the faulty part was not replaced, minus the poor first few who had to experience the fault early on.

In short terms, when a car company does a recall, it means they actually care for their customers. Instead of bashing and criticizing a car company for conducting it, look on the bright side because they are actually doing their customers a huge favor.
