Will this be the facelifted MG RX5?

The Roewe RX-5 which the MG RX5 is based on receives a facelift.

Will this be what the new MG RX5 looks like?

SAIC Roewe has released images of mid-cycle refresh for its compact crossover SUV, the RX5. The Roewe RX5 is available in the Philippines under the MG brand. MG and Roewe are both owned by SAIC.

Apparent in the photos is the completely new front fascia. The grille is larger and comes with a new design. A bar on the upper portion of the grille connects and overlaps both headlights which are also completely new. The entire bumper and fog lights are also new.

As this isn’t a new generation of the crossover, the side profile is basically the same as the current RX5. It does however get a new blacked-out wheel design.

At the back, the tail lights still have been updated with a slightly different appearance. The LED lights have a new pattern. The bumper is also similar to that of the current model.

Inside is where the biggest changes can be seen. The entire dashboard is new. Clearly in the center is a 14.3-inch touchscreen display. There is also a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster for the driver. Another new feature is the electronic gear shifter similar to what you can find on more expensive luxury cars.

There is no word yet on whether this facelifted model will make it to our shores as the updated MG RX5. It is expected to be officially launched in China by June 2020.
