Automatic-shifting Suzuki S-Presso is finally coming to PH

1 min read

You asked, and they listened. After much clamor from potential buyers, Suzuki Philippines has finally announced that they will be introducing an automatic-shifting version of its very popular entry-level S-Presso hatchback.

Ever since it was first introduced locally three years ago, customers were limited to purchasing a manual transmission equipped S-Presso. While that is good for first-time and newbie car buyers, some people who wanted the convenience of a clutchless drive would have to look elsewhere. Thankfully, that will no longer be the case.

Now the automatic version of the S-Presso won’t have a regular automatic transmission. Instead, it will get Suzuki’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission that we also see on the Dzire subcompact sedan and Celerio hatchback. This is essentially a 5-speed manual transmission that shifts on its own. That means we get the performance and efficiency of a manual transmission, and the convenience of an automatic.

Of course, the S-Presso AGS will remain powered by the same 1.0-liter Inline 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated gasoline engine that produces 67 horsepower and 90 Nm of torque.

In terms of features, we don’t know if the S-Presso AGS will get differences from the regular manual variant but we are expecting it to remain the same except for the 15-inch alloy wheels which are the same as those on the Special Edition variant.

Reservations for the Suzuki S-Presso AGS are now accepted by authorized Suzuki Auto Philippines dealerships. It will be priced at Php 660,000.
