The Chery QQ will be coming back to the Philippines at PIMS 2026

Those old enough will probably remember the Chery QQ, one of the most inexpensive vehicles you could buy in your market, with Coca-Cola Philippines being one of the biggest fleet customers for the model. However, that early vehicle was plagued with lots of build quality and mechanical issues, leaving it as either a fond or frustrating memory for those who owned one.

Chery Auto Philippines is looking to revive the nameplate in the form of the new Chery Q at the upcoming 2026 Philippine International Motor Show this coming June 4 to 7, as it teased on its Facebook page.

Initial specifications can be found in the Department of Energy’s list of Recognized EVs, so we know that it comes in two variants—the Q EV 420 Passion and Q EV 420 Share. The small hatchback measures 4,195mm long, 1,811mm wide, and 1,573mm tall, making it compete against the likes of the Geely EX2, BYD Seagull, GAC Aion UT, and Dongfeng Nammi.

As its name suggests, it can drive up to 420km or 405km (NEDC) on a single charge from a 41.28kWh LFP battery, rechargeable via DC fast charging at speeds of up to 85kW, filling the battery from 30-80% in 16.5 minutes, and AC charging up to 6.6kW. This also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) at speeds of up to 6.6kW.

However, it’s the GB/T charging standard, which will make hunting for compatible chargers a bit harder. Chery Auto Philippines will at least throw in a free portable charger. This vehicle is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 120 horsepower and 115Nm of torque

It features Q-shaped LED lighting front and back, a generally bubbly design, and two choices of either 16-inch “Sharp Blade” alloy wheels or 17-inch “Tie Design” alloy wheels. It has a 70L front trunk and a 375L cargo area that can expand up to 1,450L with the seats folded down. Plus, the tailgate is power-operated on both variants, but the higher-end Share variant gets a power-operated front trunk.

The interior features a roomy 2,700mm wheelbase, capable of seating five people inside. It features a large 15.6-inch infotainment screen that supports smartphone integration, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, soft, rounded design elements in the dashboard with ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, and power-adjustable seats, which we’re not sure if it will make it to the Philippines.

What’s even more surprising is that the production model of the Q (known as the QQ3 in China) was launched at this year’s Auto China 2026 in Beijing, making it one of the fastest international show-to-shore models to make it to the country, showing just how important the Philippine automotive market is to China now.
