The Toyota bZ4X Touring lands in ASEAN at GIIAS 2026

Toyota’s family of battery electric vehicles is slowly growing, especially within the ASEAN region. In the Philippines, we’ve already got the bZ4X, the Urban Cruiser, and the recently launched Hilux BEV. Other countries have more variants, including a wagon-like variant of the bZ4X that’s aptly named the bZ4X Touring.

Now, it looks like the chances of us seeing that model in the country are much, much higher, as it made its ASEAN debut at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

Technically, this isn’t the first time the model is in the region, as it debuted in Singapore earlier this year as the Subaru e-Outback. Being a variant of the standard bZ4X, it’s easy to see that Toyota is aiming at the likes of the Tesla Model Y L, which is growing in popularity around the world.

The bZ4X Touring sports a similar “Hammerhead” design language as its crossover sibling, complete with the swaths of black cladding, a slimmer light bar, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a functional roof rail capable of carrying up to 80kg (while driving).

The extended roofline that sits lower than most SUVs is also what gives it its larger cargo capacity, but otherwise, the interior is identical to the standard bZ4X. It has features like ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless chargers, a 14-inch infotainment, and a 9-speaker JBL Audio system. Of course, the Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver assistance suite is present as well.

As for the powertrain, it’s only available in the dual-motor AWD configuration, with each electric motor pushing out 227 horsepower and 268.6Nm of torque (total 334kW or 454 horsepower). Driving range is up to 487km from the 74.69kWh battery, and it can be recharged at speeds of up to 22kW (AC) or 150kW (DC).

The bZ4X Touring is priced at IDR 889,000,000, or roughly Php 3.010-million. Considering that the Philippines does have tax benefits for electric vehicles, it is possible that, should this get introduced in our country, the pricing might hover around that or get even lower. Should Toyota Motor Philippines bring this in?
