Volkswagen T-Cross gets some updates for 2022

2 min read

One of the biggest news for Volkswagen in the Philippines this year was the introduction of the global T-Cross nameplate in the country. The model has also proven popular since it was launched with many units quickly finding new homes.

For the 2022 model year, Volkswagen Philippines is giving its subcompact crossover entry a few updates to make it better equipped, specifically the top-spec 1.5 MPI SE A/T variant.

Now the changes aren’t exactly that big as the overall package remains pretty much the same. The 2022 model is now equipped with a new Active Info Display or AID, essentially a fully-digital instrument cluster similar to the one found in the Volkswagen Lamando sedan. This provides the vehicle’s driver with better performance graphics showing important information at a glance, without needing to take attention off the road, which they say should add to an overall better driving experience.

In addition, the infotainment system has been slightly updated. The SE variant still maintains a 9-inch touchscreen but now gets Wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity just like on the base 1.5 MPI S A/T variant. This is good as some will definitely think that it’s odd for the base model to have the upgraded feature while the top-of-the-line lacks it, which now is no longer the case.

Other than that, everything else around the vehicle, including the 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine remain the same as when the T-Cross was first launched in the country. Color choices also remain the same with Tribu Yellow, Syringa Violet, Romance Red, Chinchilla Gray, and Polar White.

Those changes mentioned earlier do come with a price. The 2022 Volkswagen T-Cross 1.5 MPI SE A/T now costs Php 1,250,000. That’s Php 52,000 more than the initial model.

Do the changes make the Volkswagen T-Cross more enticing to you?
