MG Philippines, under the distributorship of The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), is starting the year right as they introduce their newest sedan offering for the Philippine market, the all-new MG GT.

Coming in two variants for the local market–Alpha and Sport, the MG GT initially debuted at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show for the Chinese market as the MG5. Now, it’s finally in the Philippines and slots in between the Roewe-based MG5 available locally, and the MG6.

In terms of design, the MG GT wears the Sino-British automaker’s latest design language, giving it a very sleek, sculpted, and aggressive overall exterior look. The front end is mainly highlighted by its “Digital Flaming Grille.” The side and rear show off its fastback inspired look. Equipment include 16-inch alloy wheels on the Alpha (17-inch on the Sport), as well as LED headlights and taillights.

Available exterior color options are Nuclear Yellow, Moon White, Extreme Speed Red, Brighton Blue, Iron Oxide Grey, and Pearl Black.

As for its interior, the MG GT features a simple, yet premium overall design. Highlights here are the 12-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather-wrapped Zero Gravity sport seats, and sunroof.

Under the hood, the 2023 MG GT can be had with two different engine options depending on the variant. The Alpha gets a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 113 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque, paired to a CVT. The Sport on the other hand is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces a healthy 161 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In terms of safety, standard on both MG GT Alpha and Sport variants are Dual Front Airbags, Side Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Electronic Stability Program, and Cornering Brake Control. The Sport gets additional safety with its Side Curtain Airbags as well as some advanced driver-assist systems which are Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent High Beam Control.

Now for pricing, the 2023 MG GT is definitely priced very competitively with it starting at just Php 1,015,888 for the Alpha and topping-out at Php 1,193,888 for the Sport.
