Honda teases next generation CR-V
Honda is gearing up for the introduction of the next generation of its compact crossover SUV offering, the CR-V, within the next couple of months as it officially releases its first set of teaser images of the upcoming model.
This comes just a few days after photos of what is speculated to be the sixth generation Honda CR-V found their way into the internet. The images released by the Japanese brand show a portion of the upcoming generation’s front and rear styling.
Based on the teasers, the leaked photos from before are definitely the sixth generation of the popular crossover. In front, we can already tell that it will get a sleeker and more rugged appearance, combining styling cues from the Accord midsize sedan and HR-V subcompact crossover for the headlights, and the Ridgeline pick-up truck for the large honeycomb front grille.
The rear on the other hand looks more sophisticated with new vertical LED taillights which is a CR-V styling signature. It also gives us a bit of Volvo vibes which is not surprising as previous generations of the CR-V also did so. Other noticeable details in the photos are the door-mounted side mirrors, halogen rear turn signals (as opposed to the current gen’s LED turn signals), and integrated exhaust pipe.
We have no idea yet as to what powertrains the next generation Honda CR-V will get but the one in the teaser shows a hybrid badge. We could also be seeing the Civic’s 1.5L VTEC Turbo and for our market, the current generation’s 1.6L i-DTEC Turbo Diesel which we hope gets more power.
Other than that, no information has been revealed by Honda just yet. For now, we’ll just have to wait for them to fully reveal it, hopefully within the next few months.
