2023 Nissan Livina is here to fight the Avanza, Xpander, price starts at Php 1.029M
It may have taken a while for it to arrive in the country, but Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) has just officially introduced its new 7-seater compact MPV segment fighter, just a little over a week shy of the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
Meet the all-new Nissan Livina, now in its second generation, and a rebadged and restyled version of the very popular Mitsubishi Xpander. It is also good to note that the Philippines is the Livina’s first market outside of Indonesia where it is sourced.
The 2023 Nissan Livina lineup for the Philippines is composed of four different variants starting from the entry-level 1.5 E M/T, then the 1.5 EL A/T, followed by the 1.5 VE A/T, and topped-off by the 1.5 VL A/T, in typical Nissan fashion. It is set to compete in the very popular 7-seater compact MPV segment with the likes of its Mitsubishi Xpander twin, Suzuki Ertiga and XL7, Honda BR-V, and Toyota Avanza and Veloz.
Looking at the exterior, the 2023 Nissan Livina, like the Xpander, features split headlights which have been redesigned with a rounder appearance. Nissan has also put in their signature V-Motion grille which together with the different headlights give the Livina its own unique front fascia. The side is pretty much the same except for the wheel design which is unique to the Livina. The rear on the other hand looks very similar only with redesigned LED light pattern on the taillights, and a new rear bumper.
Standard exterior features starting from the entry-level E variant are multi-reflector halogen headlights, LED taillights, and 15-inch steel wheels. The EL adds halogen fog lights, LED daytime running lights, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Going for the VE adds 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels and auto power-folding side mirrors. Finally, the VL gives you chrome door handles, chrome side mirrors, chrome window moulding, and silver bumper accents.
Inside, the 2023 Nissan Livina is pretty much exactly the same as the Mitsubishi Xpander, from the dashboard design and materials, down to the steering wheel and switchgear. The only difference is the Nissan logo on the steering wheel, as well as seating materials.
Standard interior features starting from the entry-level E variant are a beige interior color scheme, fabric seats, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 2-speaker audio system, and manual climate control. The EL gives you a brown interior color scheme, 2-DIN head unit, and 4-speaker audio system. Going for the VE gives you black faux wood trim, puts back the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering wheel audio controls, additional 12-V power outlet and USB port, height adjustment for the driver’s seat, and chrome inside door handles. Finally, choosing the top-spec VL will give you a full black color scheme, leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 6-speaker audio system, color instrument panel LCD display, and push button start.
Under the hood, the 2023 Nissan Livina unsurprisingly shares the same powertrain as the Mitsubishi Xpander. It is powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder 4A91 MIVEC gasoline engine that produces 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission for the E and a 4-speed automatic transmission for all other variants.
As for safety, the 2023 Nissan Livina gets Dual Front Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, 3-pt. Seatbelts for all passengers, and Emergency Stop Signal as standard on all variants. Getting the VE and VL variants add a Reverse Camera, Rear Parking Sensors, Brake Assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control, and Hill Start Assist.
Pricing for the 2023 Nissan Livina is set as follows:
- 1.5 E M/T: Php 1,029,000
- 1.5 EL A/T: Php 1,109,000
- 1.5 VE A/T: Php 1,149,000
- 1.5 VL A/T: Php 1,209,000
Exterior color options are Royal Ruby Red, Onyx Black, Moonstone Gray, Platinum Silver, and Diamond White Pearl. Customers who purchase a brand-new Livina will also be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 150,000 kilometer vehicle warranty, as opposed to Mitsubishi’s 3-year, 100,000 km warranty for the Xpander.
What do you think, is this better than the Mitsubishi Xpander? Those who want to check-out and test drive the 2023 Nissan Livina in-person will be able to do so at the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) which will happen at the World Trade Center in Pasay City this coming September 15 to 18 (Thursday to Sunday).
