Isuzu PH quietly introduces updated mu-X for 2023

The updated Isuzu mu-X has arrived in the Philippines. Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) quietly introduced the refreshed model almost six months after it was first released in Thailand where local units are sourced from.

The current generation Isuzu mu-X was launched in the Philippines in 2021. The changes done for this update are mostly minor with them more obvious on the exterior and with most equipment remaining the same. Interestingly, this arrives ahead of the updated D-MAX it’s based on which received earlier updates as well.

So what exactly changed?

The most obvious difference in this update are the wheels. For the LS-E, they are still 20-inches in diameter but receive a new design. Meanwhile, the front grille gets a black chrome finish instead of chrome, and its power tailgate gets a new foot sensor. Finally, the LS-E also gets a new Norweigan Blue exterior color option. The rest of the exterior remains the same such as its front bumper design, Bi-beam Arrow-signature LED headlights, and LED taillights.

As for the interior, it remains the same including its 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from AVT, 4.2-inch TFT display, and black leather seats for the LS-E variants.

Under the hood, the updated Isuzu mu-X still gets the same engines. The entry-level LS variant is still powered by a 1.9-liter RZ4E turbodiesel engine that produces 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, all other variants still get a 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX turbodiesel that produces 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, paired to options of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, depending on the chosen variant.

As for safety, the 2023 Isuzu mu-X as before is equipped with advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), giving the LS-A blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert. The LS-E variants add adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, turn assist, pedal mis-application mitigation, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. New for this update is multi-collision braking which prevents the vehicle from moving further after the airbags are deployed.

Pricing for the 2023 Isuzu mu-X lineup has remained the same and are as follows:

  • 1.9 RZ4E LS 4×2 A/T: Php 1,650,000
  • 3.0 LS-A 4×2 M/T: Php 1,815,000
  • 3.0  LS-A 4×2 A/T: Php 1,945,000
  • 3.0 LS-E 4×2 A/T: Php 2,155,000
  • 3.0 LS-E 4×4 A/T: Php 2,505,000
