BIMS 2023: A storm is coming, Ford Ranger Stormtrak revealed in Thailand

Ford just keeps on expanding the very expansive Ranger lineup, this time with the addition of the new Ranger Stormtrak which recently made its debut at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show.

The Ford Ranger Stormtrak follows the formula needed and wanted by many pickup truck buyers today. It sits above the Ranger Wildtrak in the lineup and instead of focusing on capability, Ford focused on daily-use for the Stormtrak.

That lifestyle orientation for this variant is made obvious by its larger 20-inch blacked-out alloy wheels with a red accent that is lifted from the Everest Titanium. It also gets a slightly revised front grille with the addition of some auxiliary lamps, side decals for a sportier appearance, a set of crossbars on the roof, and what Ford calls a Flexible Rack System. This allows owners to adjust the sports bar in five different positions depending on what they need it for.

The interior on the other hand remains familiar. In fact, the only changes here are the use of red instead of orange on the Wildtrak, and the Stormtrak name embroidered on the seatbacks. In addition, unlike the Philippine-spec Wildtrak, the Stormtrak features an e-shifter like on the Everest Titanium+, giving it Active Park Assist (automated self-parking) as well.

Under the hood, the Ford Ranger Stormtrak remains powered by the brand’s 2.0-liter Inline 4-cylinder EcoBlue Bi-Turbo diesel engine that produces 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, paired to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

Will it come to the Philippines? Well a recent report by Top Gear Philippines says we might as Ford has filed a patent for the use of the name “Stormtrack” here in the Philippines. While that does not necessarily confirm its arrival here, it shows a huge possibility. Do note that this was filed way back in 2020.

What do you think of the Ford Ranger Stormtrak?
