Ford Ranger Raptor launches in PH on May 18

The wait is almost over! Ford Philippines, after leaving us with no information during the recent 2023 Manila International Auto Show, has finally announced the launch date of the much-awaited Ranger Raptor.

Previewed at the auto show, the high performance version of the blue oval’s midsize pickup truck is officially coming to the Philippines on May 18, 2023, a little over a week from now.

Now the big question is what engine will our local Ford Ranger Raptor get. There are two options for some markets with the first being a 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost Twin Turbo gasoline engine that makes 397 hp and 583 Nm of torque, and the second being a carry-over 2.0-liter EcoBlue Inline 4-cylinder Bi-Turbo diesel engine that still makes 213 hp and 500 Nm. Like we previously reported, we’re likely to get the latter due to the absence of dual exhaust pipes, which would indicate that it has the V6, on the previewed unit.

Given the love of our market for diesel-powered vehicles despite gasoline-powered vehicles having similar efficiency, lower maintenance costs, and cleaner emissions, it’s no surprise that Ford Philippines would opt to introduce the oil-burning option.

As for other upgrades compared to the standard Ford Ranger, these are adaptive Fox dampers with 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass, lightweight aluminum upper and lower control arms, new full-time 4WD system with electronically-controlled two-speed transfer case, front and rear locking differential.

Exterior and interior changes on the other hand include the signature F-O-R-D front grille, a more rugged front and rear bumper, larger side steps, flared wheel arches, 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, orange interior accents, sport seats, and an on-center marker and Raptor logo on the steering wheel.

Ford Philippines has still not given much details about the truck especially in terms of pricing. We don’t have to wait much longer though as the launch date is just around the corner.
