Another raised wagon! Subaru reveals the Levorg Layback
In case the Subaru Outback is too big for you, and if you want something more laid-back, Subaru has gotten you covered with the Levorg Layback.
Revealed recently for the Japanese market, the Subaru Levorg Layback is essentially a raised version of the WRX Wagon that we get here in the Philippines. In case you’re not aware, the WRX Wagon is called the Levorg in the brand’s home market.
So what sets this apart from the standard WRX Wagon or Levorg? For starters, the Levorg Layback has more ground clearance at 200 mm in case the going gets rough when you decide to take it somewhere laidback and away from people.
Its design is definitely identical but with a few changes here and there such as the larger front grille finished in silver and more rounded bumpers. There’s also the addition of black plastic body cladding for a more rugged appearance, and a different set of 18-inch alloy wheels.
Being a Subaru, its interior is identical to the rest of the lineup but this one gets a combination of black and “ash” which the company says is for a more relaxed vibe. As expected, right in the center is an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It does get a new 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster which if we’re not mistaken is a Subaru-first, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Under the hood of the Subaru Levorg Layback is a 1.8-liter turbocharged flat-four engine that produces 177 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a Lineartronic CVT that sends power to all four wheels with Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system.
The new Subaru Levorg Layback is a Japan-exclusive model for now. Do you think they should introduce this in other markets like ours as well?
