Baojun Yep electric mini SUV now in PH, priced at Php 1.083M
The fully electric vehicle (EV) options in our market just keep on getting wider as more and more brands bring in their contenders, ranging from tiny hatchbacks to larger crossovers. One new model that has just been launched in the market is the Baojun Yep mini electric SUV, which was first revealed earlier this year.
For a little backgrounder, Baojun is a joint venture between General Motors and SAIC Motor of China, as well as SAIC-GM-Wuling. The Chinese brand was brought-in by GRC Motors, the importer of Wuling vehicles in the country.
So, what does the Baojun Yep have to offer?
Powering this tiny SUV is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a 28.1 kWh lithium ion battery that produces a total of 67 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque, good for a driving range of 303 kilometers on a single charge. Top speed is rated at 105 kph.
Charging from 30 to 80-percent can be done in just 35 minutes using a DC fast charger. Charging from a wall socket can take between 9 and 16 hours for 16A and 10A sockets.
For its styling, the Baojun Yep takes on an off-roader appearance with its boxy shape, and large wheel arches and fender flares. It also gets black plastic bumpers for a rugged look. The Yep is also definitely small as it measures a short 3,381 mm in length and 1,685 mm in width, and weighs just 1,006 kg. It even gets the option of a frunk (front trunk) for extra practicality, as an added accessory.
Inside, the Baojun Yep is quite modern with sleek horizontal lines and dual large screens. It also makes use of premium materials with soft-touch surfaces on the dashboard. Also, despite its small size, it has the capacity for four passengers, including the driver.
Equipment include squared-off LED headlights with 4-bulb LED daytime running lights, 15-inch two-tone alloy wheels with disc brakes all around, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electronic gear selector, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and power seats.
Available exterior colors include the usual black or white, as well as more standout exterior colors of green, pink, and yellow.
As for safety, the Baojun Yep gets dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and structural crash support, among others.
