Toyota reveals Corolla Altis GR Sport in Taiwan

We want to see this in the Philippines!

Toyota has introduced a new range-topping variant for the Corolla Altis lineup in Taiwan. Meet the new Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport. Toyota also revealed a GR Sport version of the Corolla Altis in Thailand back in 2019 but this one is different. The GR Sport is available for both gasoline and hybrid versions of the Corolla Altis.

On the outside, upgrades over the standard Corolla Altis include blacked-out taillights, 17-inch GR Sport aluminum wheels, wheel deflectors, piano-black air intakes, diffusers, and other additional aerodynamic upgrades. The GR Sport upgraded variant is available for the standard Corolla and Corolla Hybrid, the latter is available with four exterior colours which are Dazzling Red, Ebony Black, Ferret White, and Aurora Silver.

Inside, it gets leather seats with red accents with the GR Sport logo embossed on the headrests. There are also red contrast stitching around the interior and paddle shifters on the steering column.

It’s not all aesthetics as well. The Corolla Altis GR Sport gets a newly developed GR Sport suspension with thicker front and rear anti-roll bars, which should improve stability and reduce body roll.

There are no engine upgrades for this variant. All GR Sport Corolla Altises will be powered by choices of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine producing 140 hp and 172 Nm of torque, or a 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle engine that makes 97 hp and 142 Nm of torque assisted by an electric motor that produces 120 hp and 163 Nm of torque. The total system output is 122 hp and is paired to an e-CVT.

Pricing for the Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport starts at NT$ 828,000 (Php 1,405,000). With this new sporty variant available in our neighbors Thailand and Taiwan, do you think Toyota Motor Philippines should bring it in as well?
