JMS 2023: Honda Prelude returns as an electrified coupe concept

Different automotive manufacturers are starting to bring back their iconic models and Honda is one of them. During the recently concluded 2023 Japan Mobility Show (JMS), the Japanese automaker took the covers off the Prelude Concept.

The Prelude is one of Honda’s most iconic two-door sports coupes, manufactured from 1978 to 2001 across five generations, and loosely based on the Honda Accord midsize sedan. And with electrification as the game these days, its new concept version is electrified with a hybrid powertrain under the hood.

While still unconfirmed if it will ever reach production, Honda says that they do have the intent for this to go as such. Anyway, it does look quite ready looking at the exterior details such as its sleek silhouette and design language which is different from what is seen in most Honda vehicles.

The front fascia is composed of slim headlights connected by a light bar with a large opening on the bumper for the front grille. The side is made up of smooth and clean lines with flushed door handles which are common in modern vehicles. The rear on the other hand features an LED light bar for the taillights, and the Honda name spelled-out.

Nothing else is known, including the interior which is still a secret. Expected powertrain details are also unavailable but at least it is confirmed that it will be a hybrid electric vehicle.

Do you think the Honda Prelude would be successful once reincarnated?
