How fuel efficient are Toyota’s hybrid vehicles in PH?

Hybrid vehicles are becoming quite popular in the Philippine market, with more and more automakers releasing their own versions. This has created quite a rivalry between brands, each trying to do the other by bringing something new and something different to the market to capture an audience.

However, one brand still stands strong: Toyota Motor Philippines. They have been in the hybrid game for a long time with the Toyota Prius and its recent additions, such as the Corolla Altis hybrid, the Corolla Cross hybrid, and the Yaris Cross hybrid. These vehicles have risen in popularity because of their feature sets and fuel efficiency. With efficiency being the name of the game in extracting as much range from every last drop of fuel as possible, just how efficient is Toyota’s current lineup of hybrid vehicles?

Toyota Corolla Altis

The Toyota Corolla Altis puts down impressive numbers despite its relative tenure in the market. The 12th generation of the sedan debuted in 2020 and was brought with hybrid technology, which was a first for the local version of the nameplate. It double digits all around for the sedan in terms of fuel economy, as it was able to get 24.4 km/l in the city, 22.2 km/l on the highway, and 22.7 km/l combined, which is a great feat.

Toyota Corolla Cross

Moving on to its crossover counterpart, the Toyota Corolla Cross, it also gets impressive numbers and even higher figures than its sedan counterpart. It was initially launched in 2020 and was a game changer for the crossover segment thanks to its advanced driver assists and hybrid technology. It has the third highest city fuel economy figures for all Toyota hybrids in the Philippines, with 25.6km/l. Its highway figures are decent at 21.7 km/l, and its combined figures are also good at 23.3 km/l.

Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 hybrid is also fuel-efficient in the compact crossover segment. Despite its larger size and weight than the Corolla Cross, the crossover can still pull off good numbers. The RAV can do 20.8 km/l in the city, one of the country’s lower figures amongst the hybrid Toyotas but still respectable. On the highway, it can do 21.3 km/l, the exact figure for its combined fuel economy.

Toyota Camry

Toyota’s executive sedan also gets the hybrid treatment in the Philippines as it comes with a 2.5-liter hybrid drivetrain that it shares with its crossover sibling, the RAV4. Despite its size, the sedan also gets good fuel efficiency numbers. It gets 20.4 km/l in the city, 23.3 km/l on the highway, and a combined fuel economy figure of 22.7 km/l.

Toyota Zenix

Toyota’s newest MPV, the Zenix, also joins the hybrid lineup with a 2.0-liter gasoline hybrid drivetrain. Despite the older model being available in the Philippines, it is the successor to the Toyota Innova. The Zenix proves that it can outdo the diesel Innova in terms of fuel efficiency as the MPV gets 27.8 km/l in the city and 20 km/l on the highway and has a combined fuel economy figure of 21.7 km/l.

Toyota Yaris Cross

One of the newer models to join Toyota’s growing hybrid family in the Philippines is the Yaris Cross. The new crossover is the most affordable model with the country’s Japanese automaker’s hybrid technology. It proves to be quite thrifty on gasoline as it gets 33.3 km/l in the city, one of the highest figures yet amongst all the hybrid vehicles Toyota has, 25.64 km/l on the highway, and has a combined fuel economy figure of 27.78 km/l.

Toyota Alphard

On the luxury end, Toyota has also hybridized the new generation of the Toyota Alphard. The luxury minivan has a 2.5-liter gasoline hybrid engine, a game changer for its segment. Aside from its new features and higher levels of comfort and luxury compared to its predecessor, the new Alphard is also fuel-efficient. It can do 17.5 km/l in the city and 18.9 km/l on the highway and has a combined figure of 18.2 km/l.

Toyota’s hybrid lineup of vehicles shows that the Japanese brand is committed to a cleaner and greener future while giving you cars that are frugal on gasoline. You can now go further than ever with the brand’s fuel-efficient lineup of hybrids.
