Chery Auto PH sales grows by 64% in 2023
Chery Auto Philippines gracefully ended 2023 with a big reason to celebrate. The Chinese automaker, distributed locally by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), experienced a large amount of growth last year.
“This previous year was a challenge for the automotive industry as the competition becomes tougher with more and more players especially China brands coming in. We attribute our success last year to the attractive sales and marketing promotions, flexible financing offers extended by our bank partners and the increasing confidence of the market towards our vehicles and aftersales support,” Chery Auto Philippines Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin said.
Over the year, Chery Auto Philippines recorded a total sales number of 3,600 units which is an increase of 64% compared to their sales in 2022. This also allowed them to corner a 1.2% market share in the passenger vehicle segment for the Philippine market.
The subcompact Chery Tiggo 5X crossover was the brand’s best-selling model for the year with 1,851 units sold, an large increase of 169% compared to the previous year, and also allowing it to become the 4th best-selling model in its segment.
This is followed by the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro compact crossover which saw a 31% growth in sales compared to the previous year, with a total sales of 910 units, also making it the 4th best-seller in its segment, with an 11% market share, based on data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI). Meanwhile, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, the brand’s current flagship model in the country, registered a sales growth of 6% with a total of 473 units sold last year.
Chery Auto Philippines launched last year new mild-hybrid versions of the Chery Tiggo 5X, now known as the Tiggo 5X Pro, as well as the Tiggo 7 Pro. This expanded the brand’s electrified model lineup from just one to three, with a Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV and other fully electric models set to arrive hopefully within the year.
