2025 Honda Civic previewed in PH with hybrid power, to launch at PIMS 2024

The compact sedan may no longer be as popular as it was decades ago, but that’s not stopping the Honda Civic from becoming a bestseller in the segment. And to sustain that, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has just previewed the refreshed version of the 11th generation of the iconic nameplate.

The 2025 Honda Civic is set to be launched at the upcoming 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), and will mark the arrival of another electrified model from the Japanese automaker in the Philippine market, after the Honda CR-V which was launched last year.

We don’t have much information yet as those will be revealed at the launch but we do have some ideas based on the Thai-market where local Civic units are sourced from.

First, we can expect the RS variant to come with the brand’s e:HEV powertrain. This combines a 2.0-liter LFC-H4 Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that runs on the Atkinson Cycle to dual electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. This produces a total of 184 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful non-Type R Civic in our market, and is mated to an e-CVT.

Lower variants will still come with a 1.5-liter L15B Inline 4-cylinder DOHC VTEC Turbo gasoline engine from before, still making 178 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, mated to an Earth Dreams CVT

In terms of design, the updated Honda Civic is still very similar to the previous version but with some changes to keep it fresh and more attractive to buyers.

The local version is pretty much like what we saw on the North American and Thai versions which were revealed a few months ago. First is a new and more angular front bumper with larger upper and lower front grille designs which also get a honeycomb mesh pattern. The fog lights have been removed and the taillight lenses get a darker shade.

We can expect all variants to come with full LED headlights and combination rear lights. Lower variants will get 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels and chrome window surrounds. Going for the RS variants gives you 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, gloss black exterior accents, a tailgate ducktail spoiler, and RS badging.

A new color—Canyon River Blue Metallic (shown in photos) will also be available.

Inside is where the updated Honda Civic remains more identical to before with the same overall design that follows Honda’s Man Maximum, Machine Minimum philosophy.

We can expect lower variants to have leather seats, a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Google Built-In, an eight-speaker audio system. Moving up to the RS e:HEV could get leather and suede seat upholstery, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. USB-A ports will also be replaced with USB-C ports.

The Honda Civic will remain very well-equipped.

Just like the pre-refresh version, we can also expect the Honda SENSING driver-assistance suite to be standard on all variants of the 2025 Honda Civic, while the RS will get a LaneWatch Camera.

In addition, the 2025 Honda Civic is confirmed to be equipped with Honda CONNECT. First released with the Honda CR-V last year, this smartphone app will allow owners to control various functions, and view important vehicle information from their mobile devices.

While we really want to know the full and accurate details about the refreshed Honda Civic for the Philippines, we don’t have that yet. But at least we don’t have to wait too long as the 9th PIMS will be happening in just a little over a month, on October 24-27, 2024.
