The refreshed Mazda BT-50 revealed in Australia with sleeker and more rugged looks

Four years after its global reveal in 2020, the current generation Mazda BT-50 receives its first major refresh, unveiled for the Australian market today. This also comes about a year after the Isuzu D-MAX which it is based on received a big facelift.
For the 2025 model year, the Mazda BT-50 gets a refreshed exterior, small interior and functionality enhancements, as well as improved safety.

The bulk of changes can be found on the BT-50’s front fascia where it takes some cues from the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover with its new headlights with L-shaped daytime running lights, and a new front grille that features a more rugged pattern and larger Mazda emblem.

The front bumper has also been redesigned with a more rugged-looking overrider, as well as sleeker fog light housings. You’ll also notice the chunkier overfenders and new alloy wheel designs, while the rear gets a ridged pattern on the lower part of the tailgate, and redesigned taillight clusters with an L-shaped lighting signature.
New exterior paint jobs are now available. These are Geode White Pearl, Sailing Blue Metallic, and a BT-50 exclusive Red Earth Metallic.

Inside, not much has changed when it comes to design. Keen eyes will notice the redesigned passenger side dashboard compartment cover which gets trapezoidal shapes for a more rugged look.
Depending on the variant, you can get black leather upholstery or a new black leather and terracotta Maztex synthetic suede upholstery.

Mazda mostly focused on functionality here with the new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. While the size remains the same, it now gets wireless Android Auto connectivity (on top of wireless Apple CarPlay), as well as new touch-sensitive buttons instead of hard buttons. Thankfully, volume and tuning knobs still remain.
Other additions to the interior include a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster from the Isuzu D-MAX, USB Type C ports, and a windshield mounted USB port.
No changes have been made under the hood. The refreshed Mazda BT-50 is still powered by the Isuzu-sourced 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX Inline 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Safety also gets an upgrade with new stereoscopic cameras for the advanced driver-assist systems. This allows the BT-50 to now have Traffic Jam Assist. The autonomous emergency braking also now gets both motorcycle and pedestrian detection at intersections, while the emergency lane keeping feature can now detect road edges without line markings. The vehicle’s parking camera also now gets dynamic guidelines.
The refreshed Mazda BT-50 will officially be made available in Mazda Australia showrooms by the first quarter of next year. For the Philippines, we could possibly see a launch in the middle or latter part of 2025.
