PIMS 2024 | Toyota Motor PH previews the bZ4X as its first fully-electric offering

Toyota Motor Philippines may finally have the answer to those looking for a fully-electric vehicle from their lineup in the form of the bZ4X.

Despite the brand’s continuous push for hybrid-powered vehicles, the bZ4X is fully-powered by electricity. About the same size as the RAV4, it is jointly developed with Subaru and rides on the e-TNGA platform which also underpins the Lexus RZ.

Based on what other markets have, powering the bZ4X is an electric motor paired with a 71.4 kWh battery. Output is rated at 204 horsepower and 266 Nm of torque, and it can drive an estimated 567 kilometers on a single charge.

An AWD version is also available with dual electric motors and a slightly larger 72.8 kWh battery. This one also has slightly more output at 218 horsepower and 338 Nm of torque, while range is less at up to 542 kilometers.

Launching the Toyota bZ4X here in the Philippines will definitely be a good idea for the Japanese automaker. With the growing popularity of fully-electric vehicles, they’ll surely want a slice of the pie. Oh, and the number of gray market examples of the bZ4X on local roads says a lot.
