Omoda E5 gets back-to-back five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP
While the long-announced formal local launch of the Omoda E5 has not happened yet, at least we know that it will be a very safe car once it does.
Both the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) and Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) have announced that the compact electric crossover has gained a five-star safety rating from their respective tests.
Starting with the Euro NCAP, the results for three categories are as follows:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) – 87%
- Child Occupant Protection (COP) – 88%
- Safety Assist (SA) – 88%
Meanwhile, the ANCAP’s tests in the same categories returned very similar results to that of the Euro NCAP. These are as follows:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) – 87%
- Child Occupant Protection (COP) – 88%
- Safety Assist (SA) – 83%
The tests showed that in the frontal crash test, the occupant compartment remained stable, with no significant deformation of the A-pillars or doors.
Also seen were good performance from the vehicle’s advanced driver-assist systems such as the autonomous emergency braking feature which was able to accurately identify targets across a wider speed range and respond more quickly.
“The Omoda E5’s five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP exhibit OMODA’s global automotive engineering DNA. These results equally underscore the brand’s commitment to build automotive innovations that meet global users’ expectations and needs for safe driving. Promising a fusion of style, technology, and safety, we are excited to see the OMODA E5 on Philippine roads soon,” said Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines Country Director Terry Hu.
