The iconic R32 Nissan GT-R becomes electric

Despite being hounded by various internal issues as of late, Nissan is already gearing up for the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon which is happening on January 10-12, 2025.

One of the things to look forward to from their booth is the R32EV concept which is essentially a fully-electric version of the iconic R32 Skyline GT-R from the early 90’s.

Initially starting development in 2023, the R32EV concept swaps out its RB26DETT gasoline engine–a 2.6-liter twin-turbo inline-six–for an all-electric powertrain. No information on its numbers is available yet but there are other visible changes such as the lack of fog lights and the new orange brake calipers.

Yup, that’s electric right there.

While this will surely be a one-off model, it definitely hints at an electric future for the GT-R nameplate. Last year, Nissan also unveiled the Hyper Force concept  at the Japan Mobility Show which previews the R36 GT-R as an electric sports car.

The Nissan R32EV will be displayed alongside other Nissan production and concept vehicles such as the Fairlady Z, GT-R Nismo Special Edition, Ariya Nismo, Motul Autech Z #23 race car, X-Trail Unwind concept and X-Trail Remastered concept, Caravan Disaster support-spec, and Aura and Serena AUTECH Sports Spec.
