Ford is finally bringing electrified models to PH
If there’s one brand that has not joined the electrification game in our market, that’s definitely Ford. The American automaker’s current local lineup consists of purely diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles.
That’s about to change as Ford Philippines Managing Director Pedro Simoes just confirmed at its recent media thanksgiving party that they will be introducing their first set of electrified models in the Philippines by next year.
No details were shared as to what exact models these could be but we do have our candidates. First and highly likely is the Ford Territory PHEV. Known as the Equator Sport PHEV in China where it is produced, it still gets a 1.5-liter gasoline engine but is paired to an electric motor and battery, producing a total output of 218 horsepower.
The Territory PHEV also gets a heavily redesigned front fascia with sleeker and more futuristic styling cues, while the interior has been updated as well with a slightly different UI for the infotainment screen, and a new interior colorway.
Another possible option is the Mustang Mach-E. While the iconic nameplate has always been known as a V8-powered muscle car, an all-electric crossover version exists. This makes up to 487 horsepower and 815 Nm of torque through dual electric motors.
And with Chinese automakers expressing intent to introduce plug-in hybrid pickup trucks, we won’t be surprised if Ford decides to bring in the Ranger PHEV. Instead of a turbodiesel, this gets a turbocharged 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine paired to an electric motor and high-voltage battery, allowing for a total output of 279 horsepower and 689 Nm of torque.
Which electrified Ford do you think will we be getting here? Your guess is as good as ours.
On top of that electrification, Simoes also announced that they will be improving their customer experience by refreshing its dealerships with the launch of the Ford Signature 2025.
Also going hand-in-hand with the introduction of electrified models, the company will also be opening a new Learning Center. The facility will enable high-quality training among its pool of dealer technicians and will also allow for adequate space for the conduct of training programs related to EVs.
