TAS 2025: Honda says hybrids are fun with the Prelude Prototype
Arguably one of the most exciting products to come from Honda since the latest FL5 Civic Type R and the sadly now discontinued NSX, the Prelude is inching closer to production as its prototype version has been presented at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Unveiled in concept form at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the return of the Prelude is one much-awaited event in the global automotive industry.
As we already know, the Prelude is now a hybrid, having Honda’s e:HEV powertrain under the hood. No exact specifications have been provided yet but we do know that it will have dual electric motors, and an engine derived from the Civic.
It will also debut Honda S+ Shift which makes its debut, and aims to make driving more exciting through the simulation of the feeling and sound of gear shifts.
When it comes to design, it stays true to the concept vehicle we saw before, with the addition of some body kits and a rear spoiler from Mugen. We don’t know what the interior looks like yet as that has not been revealed.
The return of the Honda Prelude is certainly exciting. Adding to that is as we previously reported, it looks like the Prelude is confirmed for a Philippine launch as Honda Cars Philippines somewhat teased it through some social media postings a couple of weeks ago.
