Toyota Motor PH has discontinued the Land Cruiser 300’s more affordable VX variant
When Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) launched the current generation 300-series Land Cruiser in our market in 2021, it was made available in two variants—the entry-level VX and the more premium ZX.
Well it seems that for 2025 (or maybe even earlier), TMP has trimmed down their flagship SUV’s lineup into just one variant with the more expensive ZX as the survivor. This is what we saw while scrolling on the Japanese automaker’s official website.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 VX was originally priced at Php 5,390,000 or Php 342,000 less than its more expensive sibling. For reference, the ZX is currently listed (as of this writing) at Php 5,752,000.
At that price, it featured a slightly more lowkey exterior with simpler bumpers, smaller 18-inch alloy wheels, no sunroof, and a manual tailgate. Inside, it did away with fancy machine cut woodgrain finishes and seat ventilation, and has a regular Toyota 10-speaker audio system instead of a 14-speaker JBL premium system.
Performance-wise, the VX and ZX shared the same 3.3-liter F33A-FTV twin-turbo diesel V6 engine making 306 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The VX comes with Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes, while the ZX adds in Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom modes, in addition to a limited slip differential and adaptive variable suspension system.
With so much more features available on the top-spec ZX compared to the VX, for a small price difference made even smaller by monthly installment plans offered by dealerships and banks, it just makes sense how the VX ended up being discontinued with more buyers going for the more expensive and fully-equipped ZX. In fact, we don’t even remember the last time we saw an LC300 in VX form.
Also just to add, new exterior paint job options have been added to the ZX variant’s lineup though only for indent order. These are Dark Red Mica Metallic, Silver Metallic 2, and Gray Metallic.
Do you think Toyota Motor Philippines made the right decision for its buyers by discontinuing the more affordable version of its flagship and much sought-after model?
