The Geely Galaxy LEVC L380 is an Airbus A380 for the road

When you think luxury vans, models such as the Toyota Alphard and Lexus LM, and the Hyundai Staria Premium probably immediately come to mind. From China, there’s the GAC M8 and a handful of other models. But did you know that Geely also has its own?

Say hello to the LEVC L380, a fully-electric minivan produced by the Geely-owned London EV Company (LEVC) for the Chinese and British markets, and now marketed under the Geely Galaxy lineup.

Its name is inspired by the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft. This inspiration can also be seen on the vehicle’s design as its shape is visibly similar to that of the Airbus A380’s fuselage. We’re also seeing a lot of Hyundai Staria with the full-width lightbar, and low-positioned headlights.

The LEVC L380 is also long, measuring at a length of 5,315mm which is already longer than the Hyundai Staria and Toyota Hiace Super Grandia.

Inside, it features seating for six people (including the driver) with its second and third row captain seats giving that full airliner experience. Need entertainment while in-flight…err…on the road? Second row passengers get 12.8-inch screens mounted behind the headrests of the front seats.

This is on top of a 19.8-inch AR-HUD, 15.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster.

As mentioned earlier, the Geely Galaxy LEVC L380 is fully-electric with four motor and battery combination options. The front wheel-drive variants get a single electric motor that makes 272 horsepower paired to a 100kWh battery for a driving range of 570km, or a 140kWh battery for a range of 825km.

The all-wheel drive variants double that with dual motors producing 544 horsepower, paired to either a 116kWh battery for a range of 650km, or a 140kWh battery for a range of 805km.

Do you think Geely Motor Philippines should consider this for our market, especially with them starting to go into the EV space with the Geely EX5 (also made by Geely Galaxy)? While fully-electric vans have not really gone mainstream yet, it might be worth a shot.
