Kia PH is giving us a more affordable Carnival Turbo Hybrid for Php 2.888M

Kia Philippines, under the distributorship of ACMobility, is expanding its electrified lineup further with the introduction of the entry-level Carnival 1.6 EX Turbo Hybrid.

This comes a few months after the brand’s longest running nameplate was heavily-revised in September, followed by the quiet introduction of a new 1.6 SX Turbo Hybrid variant in November, and then the launch of the Sorento Turbo Hybrid earlier this year.

Just like the top-spec SX, powering this is a 1.6-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder Smartstream G engine paired to a 54 kW electric motor and battery. It produces a total combined output of 245 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

Other than its powertrain, it gets pretty much the same equipment as the turbodiesel-powered EX.

It gets multi-reflector LED headlights, smaller 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colored door handles, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leatherette upholstery, and second row captain seats.

It also lacks the dual power sunroofs and Kia’s Drivewise ADAS suite. Available exterior colors are limited to Aurora Black Pearl and Snowflake White Pearl.

Interestingly, Kia Philippines has decided to price this the same as the 2.2 EX Diesel at Php 2,888,000. That certainly makes this enticing considering the fuel and maintenance cost savings you can get at the same price. Would you go for this or the turbodiesel?
