BIMS 2025 | The BYD Sealion 7 is a sexier Sealion 6

The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is undoubtedly successful. Not even a year after it was launched in our market, BYD Cars Philippines was already able to sell 2,669 units of the plug-in hybrid crossover in its first six months of local sales.

But what if there was something that’s more attractive, say hello to the BYD Sealion 7 (not to be confused with Sealion 07 DM-i) which we saw at the 46th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS)

Style-wise, the Sealion 7’s front fascia will look very familiar, following the same design language as models such as of course the Sealion 6 DM-i, and the Seal sports sedan. Towards the back though, it features a sleek fastback silhouette similar to what you’d see in a BMW X6, giving it a rather sexy profile.

Step inside and you’ll find a very premium space. You’ll find typical BYD stuff such as the large rotating infotainment screen and various curvy design touches. The seats also get a fancy diamond-stitch pattern on them.

Unlike the Sealion 6, the Sealion 7 is exclusively available as a purely electric vehicle. The rear-wheel drive version gets a single electric motor that produces up to 313 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, paired to an 82.5 kWh BYD Blade Battery that allows for up to 610 km of driving range.

Meanwhile, there’s an all-wheel drive version with dual electric motors producing a combined figure of up to 530 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque. With the same size battery as the FWD, it can drive for up to 550 km on a single charge.

With BYD Cars Philippines introducing pretty much any model they can bring into our market, do you think the Sealion 7 should be among them?
