Is Hyundai Motor PH launching the “regular” Elantra at MIAS 2025?

Last year, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) went all out with the big launch of their N line of performance vehicles, comprising the Elantra N and Ioniq 5 N. This also marked the return of the Elantra nameplate in the local market after years of absence.
Being a niche model though, the Elantra N is not comparable with the mainstream Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis which both enjoy decent sales. That won’t be the case for too long as it looks like the compact sedan will make its real comeback at the upcoming 20th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

The Korean automaker posted a teaser on its social media pages showing a section of the compact sedan’s rear end. So what can we expect from this?

Well, we all know how the Elantra N looks so just tame that a bit and you get the Elantra. It wears Hyundai’s Parametric Dynamic design language with its angular lines all around giving it a sporty appearance. Of course, there’s LED lighting and wheel sizes could range from 16- to 18-inches in diameter.

The interior is what you would expect from pretty much every Hyundai these days with its sleek and premium ambiance. There’s a four-spoke steering wheel and large screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
Possible powertrains for the Hyundai Elantra if launched here are choices of 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated or 1.6-liter turbocharged engines. The former makes a humble 127 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, while the latter makes 204 horsepower and 265 Nm.
Other markets also have a hybrid powertrain in the mix. This combines a 1.6-liter engine with an electric motor and battery, making a total of 141 horsepower and 265 Nm. Having this as an option would allow it to perfectly compete with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis which have NA (Corolla Altis only), turbo (Civic only), and hybrid options.

Do you think Hyundai has a chance with the Elantra if it were to make a comeback? We’ll find out soon for sure as the MIAS 2025 is just a few days from now, happening from April 10-13 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
