Ford PH brings in F-150 with Php 2.698M starting price

Ford wants to spruce up the local pick-up truck scene.

Pick-up trucks are one of the most popular vehicle segments in the Philippines. Ford Philippines is no stranger in this segment with their Ranger midsize truck. Now, they have decided to bring in the F-150 full-size pick-up truck after being absent in the local market for almost two decades.

The Ford F-150 is part of the F-Series line of trucks and has been the bestselling truck in North America for 43 years straight. For our market, Ford is offering two variants which are the F-150 4×2 Lariat SuperCrew AT and the F-150 4×4 Platinum SuperCrew AT.

“The F-150 is definitely a strong addition to our pickup truck portfolio as we continue to lead the segment with the widest range of trucks, now totaling fifteen (15) variants. The F-150 is packed with segment-defining features and capabilities that have made it the truck of choice across America and the world,” said PK Umashankar, managing director of Ford Philippines. “We are excited to bring back this legendary Ford truck to Filipino customers who seek next-level power and refinement in their pickup.”

Let’s talk about the exterior. The F-150 obviously has a very tough looking exterior, especially on the front fascia. There’s a large grille and large quad-beam LED headlights. LED fog lights are also standard.

The Lariat trim gets a Sport appearance package which gives it body-colored exterior parts such as the grille, side-mirrors, and door and tailgate handles. It also gets Sport decals. On the other hand, the top-spec Platinum variant gets a more premium looking exterior with a silver mesh satin-aluminum grille and tailgate trim with the Platinum name embossed, chrome on the side mirrors, door and tailgate handles, a tailgate step and tailgate lift assist, high-gloss black B-pillar, power sunroof, and power-retractable side steps. Both variants get 20-inch alloy wheels. The Lariat gets a 6-spoke design with a dark-alloy finish, wrapped in 275/55 R20 all-season tires. The Platinum on the other hand gets a polished aluminum alloy finish, also wrapped in the 275/55 R20 all-terrain tires.

Inside, the F-150’s dashboard looks very similar to what you’ll see in the Expedition SUV. Right in the center is the 8-inch SYNC3 infotainment system. It features AppLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Also standard is a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system with subwoofer. For the Platinum variant, there’s a leather interior with black ash wood accents, aluminum accents in the center console, 10-way power adjustable driver and front passenger seats with ActiveMotion massage function, premium floor mats, and metallic door sills with the Platinum variant name.

Under the hood, both F-150 variants are powered by the same engine found in the Expedition. It is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 gasoline powertrain. It produces 375 hp and 637 Nm of torque, paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Platinum variant also gets an Electronic Shift-On-The-Fly (ESOF) 4×4 System. No diesel option? Don’t complain because the EcoBoost V6 can deliver the same fuel economy and performance. It is also equipped with an Auto Start-Stop System which shuts off the engine when stopped in traffic junctions or heavy traffic.

The Ford F-150 definitely won’t be left behind when it comes to safety. Standard on both variants is the Ford Co-Pilot 360 system, Ford’s safety suite composed of Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Lane Keeping System (LKS) and Auto-High Beam Headlamps. The F-150 is also equipped with different driver-assist features which include a 360-degree around-view monitor with split-view display, active park assist, curve control, hill-start assist, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, Trailer sway control, rain-sensing wipers, and rear parking sensors.

Additional safety features include AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, dual-stage front airbags, front-seat side airbags and Safety Canopy system with side-curtain airbags and rollover sensor, tire pressure monitoring system, SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System, and anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. The Platinum variant gets additional Inflatable Rear Seatbelts.

Pricing for the Ford F-150 starts at Php 2,698,000 for the Lariat SuperCrew 4×2 and Php 2,998,000 for the Platinum SuperCrew 4×4 variant. It will be available in all Ford dealerships nationwide starting June 25, 2020.
