Mitsubishi is set to make a new EV based on the Nissan LEAF

Another fruit of the alliance between Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan is set to come out in the coming years. The former has announced that it will be launching a new fully-electric model that will be based on the yet-to-be-unveiled next-generation Nissan LEAF.
To be introduced initially to the North American market by the second half of 2026, this new Mitsubishi EV is part of the Japanese automaker’s product strategy through 2030 for the US market.
In fact, based on what Nissan has already shown us about the next-generation LEAF, we already have an idea of what its Mitsubishi version will look like thanks to a teaser image shown last year.

What we can say is that the two vehicles will look identical with pointed C-shaped daytime running lights, and a low-slung crossover silhouette.
The partnership for this LEAF-based Mitsubishi EV is also a two-way street as Mitsubishi Motors will be providing Nissan its technical expertise when it comes to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV).
With this new EV also planned for release in markets such as Australia, do you think Mitsubishi Motors Philippines should also bring its Nissan LEAF-based EV here in our market?
