The bZ4X Touring is the newest Toyota EV

While we’re all waiting for what Toyota has in store for what is expected to be the next generation of the long-running RAV4 nameplate, the Japanese automaker has revealed a new crossover for the North American and European markets, an all-electric one too.
Say hello to the all-new bZ4X Touring (or the bZ Woodland in North America) which joins the company’s expanding lineup of fully-electric vehicles under the bZ line. Looks a bit familiar? That’s because it’s essentially the Subaru Trailseeker which was revealed just last month.

And while the body and rear end are very similar to its Subaru counterpart, it gets its own unique front fascia with Toyota’s signature Hammerhead styling as seen on the smaller bZ4X which it’s based on.

Large amounts of body cladding give it a more adventurous look, matched with blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels (with hubcaps that can be optioned with all-terrain tires in North America), and meaty roof rails.

The interior is also much like what we’ve seen on the refreshed bZ4X, and Subaru Solterra and Trailseeker through its minimalistic and horizontal theme. It features a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity front and center.

Other features include an optional nine-speaker JBL premium audio system, SofTex leather seat upholstery, dual 15W wireless phone chargers, a panoramic sunroof, all-weather floor mats, and a digital rear-view mirror.

Just like the Subaru Trailseeker, the bZ4X Touring is powered by dual electric motors capable of producing a combined 381 horsepower, paired to a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery that allows it to drive for up to approximately 418km on a single charge.
That setup also means it’s AWD, and comes with Subaru’s X-Mode system which allows the drive to select different driving modes depending on the type of terrain and road condition.

It’s also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, has a standard 360-degree camera, and multi-terrain monitor for more viewing angles especially when off-roading.

Chances of this model making it to the Philippines are very low at the moment, but given the popularity of the bZ4X as a gray market import, we won’t be surprised to see a few examples of this on our roads in the future.
