The latest in Philippine motoring

The new Hyundai Creta is here with four variants and available turbo power, pricing starts at Php 1.134M

Over a year ago, Hyundai revealed a heavily-revised version of the Creta subcompact crossover in the Indian market. We even got to see it at the 46th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) in Thailand in March.

Now it’s here in the Philippines and it’s looking better than ever with four variants which are as follows along with their prices:

  • 1.5 GL IVT – Php 1,134,000
  • 1.5 GLS IVT – Php 1,254,000
  • 1.5 Premium IVT – Php 1,333,000
  • 1.5T N Line DCT – Php 1,379,000

Its exterior is almost a complete departure from the one we currently get, with its new front fascia and rear end, following the Korean automaker’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy.

It measures at 4,330mm long, 1,790mm wide, and 1,635mm tall, and rides on a 2,610mm wheelbase. The front fascia is more rugged and squared-out. The grille is larger and the front bumper receives an overrider-like design. The rear loses the mishmash look of the taillights in favor of a full-width light bar with an H-theme.

Available exterior colors are Slate Blue Pearl, Magnetic Silver, Midnight Black Pearl, and Creamy White Pearl. Exclusive to the N Line are Shadow Gray, Dragon Red Pearl, and Creamy White Pearl, all paired to a Midnight Black Pearl Roof.

Inside, the dashboard has been completely overhauled as well. A single panel is home to the infotainment screen and driver’s instrument cluster, and it gets an overall sleeker design.

The entry-level GL variant gets 17-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights, roof rails, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and fabric seats.

The GLS adds a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ventilated seats, leatherette seats, and push button start.

A new Premium variant gives you LED headlights and taillights, and the new N Line variant adds in 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels with N center caps, N Line badging all around, red brake calipers, a larger tailgate spoiler, and a red-accented interior with a three-spoke steering wheel.

The naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine found in the other variants.

Most variants of the Hyundai Creta get the same powertrain. That’s a 1.5-liter MPi Smartstream G engine that makes 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, mated to an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT)

The 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine found in the N Line only.

Meanwhile, the N Line gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged GDI engine making a much healthier 160 horsepower and 253 Nm, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Safety-wise, the Premium and N Line get Hyundai’s Smartsense suite of advanced driver-assist systems which give them adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assist and lane following assist. The N Line further adds blind spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera.

The new Hyundai Creta is now available in all Hyundai dealerships nationwide. Do you think these changes make it a more enticing option compared to its rivals in the very competitive subcompact crossover segment?
