The Y63 Nissan Patrol Nismo leaks online, large grille and all

It’s a good time to be a large SUV fan, with the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 going hybrid, and a new Nissan Patrol starting to make its way to markets globally. But what if you wanted to get something a little more ostentatious?

Enter the Nissan Patrol Nismo, a version of Nissan’s full-sized SUV that undergoes surgery by the folks at Nissan’s motorsports arm. While a hotted-up version of an arguably bulky and heavy SUV doesn’t really make sense, it’s always nice to see the folks at Nismo go crazy over products you wouldn’t expect.

Unsurprisingly this early in the Y63’s life cycle, photos of the Y63 Patrol Nismo have surfaced online on various Instagram accounts based in the Middle East, which is the largest market of the nameplate by far.

Apart from the very aggressive motorsports-inspired body kit with a splitter, canards, a larger rear spoiler, a rear diffuser with a third brake light mounted low, and its most distinctive feature, the massive mesh-design grille reminiscent of a gaping mouth ready to devour anything smaller on the road.

The car is lined with red accents on the lip, grille surround, side mirrors, skirts, rear bumper, D-pillar accent, and rear bumper, alongside the prerequisite Nismo badges found up front, on the (fake) fender vents, and on the bottom bumper.

Based on one other photo, the SUV now comes in Stealth Pearl Gray and wears more aggressive blacked-out alloy wheels.

One interior shot shows the dashboard trim now covered in gray Alcantara upholstery with carbon fiber inserts, red contrast stitching and accent on the armrest, two-tone black and red seats, a small Nismo badge by the infotainment screen, and a steering wheel with a red centering stripe.

Obviously, no powertrain or handling details have been leaked, but the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine (the VR35DDTT) should get some power upgrades, and you can expect the folks at Nismo to tweak handling and other aspects, like with the Y62 Patrol Nismo.
