The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid is coming to PH

It looks like Toyota Motor Philippines is set to electrify one of its most sought-after models, based on a new memorandum circular from the Land Transportation Office (LTO). According to the government agency’s document, we might soon see the Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid make its local debut.
While the recently revealed diesel mild-hybrid probably makes sense, the document shows that we’ll be getting the gasoline-hybrid version which has been available in other markets for a few years now.
The LTO document states that the local-spec Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid will get a 2,393cc gasoline engine paired to an 35kW electric motor and lithium-ion battery.
These specifications match the SUV’s 2.4-liter T24A-FTS turbocharged gasoline engine, but with the aforementioned electric motor and lithium-ion battery which increases output to a combined 330 horsepower and 630Nm of torque.
Notable information also include its 265/70 R18 tire size which means that the Land Cruiser Hybrid could come in a more adventure-oriented spec as opposed to the currently available Prado’s more road-going spec with larger 20-inch wheels. Ground clearance has also been lowered to 205mm from 210mm.
We don’t know when Toyota Motor Philippines plans to release the electrified Land Cruiser Prado in our market, but we can expect it to make a quiet debut similar to when the current generation of the nameplate was launched locally.
