The 6th-generation Subaru Forester makes ASEAN debut in Indonesia

The sixth-generation Subaru Forester is getting closer to making its Philippine launch, making its ASEAN Region debut at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
First unveiled in late 2023 for the North American market, the new-generation Subaru Forester received a complete redesign with a whole new exterior and interior, updated technology, and improved safety.

And like what we saw in the North American version, the new Forester for Indonesia features the rather controversial exterior design, and interior that should look familiar as it is similar to other newer products from the Japanese automaker.

Features for this version include a large sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a power tailgate, an 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon audio system, and of course, Subaru’s EyeSight suite of advanced driver-assist systems.

Interestingly, the Indonesian-spec Subaru Forester gets a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter Boxer engine under the hood instead of the new S:HEV hybrid system. It produces 185 horsepower and 247Nm of torque, mated to a Lineartronic CVT that sends power to all four wheels through the brand’s Symmetrical AWD system.

As for our market, it’s already confirmed that we will be receiving the electrified Forester in the coming months. We don’t know when, but it’ll be before the end of this year. With the hybrid powertrain, it will be able to be more competitive with the likes of the Honda CR-V e:HEV and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
Are you looking forward to the arrival of the new Subaru Forester in our market?
